For 25 years, Family and Life (Družina in Življenje) has been helping couples in Slovenia build marriages worth living for — and passing on.
Family and Life is one of Slovenia’s largest grassroots movements for marriage and family renewal. What began in 2000 with one couple — Dani and Vilma Siter, who left their careers to serve marriages and families full-time — has grown couple by couple into a nationwide network, carried by volunteers who received something precious and chose to pass it on.
A quiet renewal in the heart of Europe
Slovenia is one of Europe’s most secularized post-communist societies. Church attendance is low, marriage rates are falling — and yet, quietly, a renewal is growing here: living rooms full of couples who meet every month to talk honestly about their marriages and their faith.
Our model is multiplication. Couples who receive formation “pay it forward”: they become leading couples, open new groups, share their testimony in parishes, and mentor the next generation. A small staff, hundreds of volunteers, thousands of lives touched — at remarkably low cost.
Our next chapter is digital: bringing 25 years of proven formation to couples far beyond Slovenia’s borders.

A summer full of families
Dear friends — this summer our family weeks in Veržej filled up once again. Mornings brought honest talks on marriage and parenting while volunteers took care of the children; afternoons were for the pool and the bikes; evenings for Scripture and the kind of unhurried conversation couples rarely find at home.
Weeks like these are where new leading couples — and new marriage groups — quietly begin.
